Comments For Page 237

Sorry for not posting any comments last time.
Things are just getting weirder and weirder, aren't they? Why is Toi hitting Ann and what exactly does Bunny mean? Both very good questions and at least one of them will be answered Monday.
I've been trying to get a lot of work on my animation done this week, and that's the main reason I haven't had much time to post. There was also a big stink this week when we found out that a few small assignments would be worth a lions share of our mark. As I've mentioned before, we have a sub filling in for an instructor that is recovering from an injury. Because our original instructor wasn't here to help us with the big project, many people went ahead an did it anyway while others worked on the smaller assignments the new instructor gave us. No one knew what anything was worth until this week when the new marking sheet was finally released. Many people were not happy with the focus moving from the big project to the smaller assignments, for various reasons. I don't want to get into the politics too much but it's sufficient to say things are a bit of a mess right now.

I don't have much time to post right now, so I'll just use this as a place holder until I get a chance to update my Blog. Check out the newest page in the mean time.

Looks like Toi is back to her old self, sort of. She still has the head and paws of a rat and is twice as big as she was before. Bunny seems to have grown to three times her normal size. Will they ever return to normal? How did they even change in the first place? These answers will be revealed later. The question right now is "How are the others going to react to their friends' transformations?" That question will be answered soon as the battle in the ally continues Wednesday.

I've gotten a lot of my animation done over the weekend, but I didn't scan any of my sketches or life drawings. Sorry. I'll try to remember to do this when I get some free time. (Don't hold your breath.) My animation is still pretty rough, so I don't have anything to show at this time. Maybe in a couple of weeks I'll put up the finished "pencil test" (This is the animation with no color and rough lines everywhere. It is meant to test the animation to make sure it is working before being cleaned-up and colored).

If you look carefully, you'll notice that Bunny has grown considerably bigger then Toi. Considering how big Toi was on Page 233 compaired to Bunny, Bunny must now be gigantic.

I wonder how Balap is going to react now that Bunny's hands are bigger then he is. Come back Monday to find out.

Classes are going well. I'm keeping up with my work, although I'm still not getting my animation done. I'll have to work on that today and throughout the weekend.

This weekend I also hope to put up some of my sketches and life drawings. I did a nice picture in Coral Painter that I want to put on the site as well. I don't have too much homework this weekend, so hopefully I can get some other things done.

Is it just me or does Bunny look less serious when she's in rabbit form . . . Wait a second. Since when can Bunny change into a rabbit? The weirdness continues Friday as Bunny and Toi fight it out.

Very busy trying to keep up with my homework and tutor at the same time. I've been painting with Coral Painter 8, and the results look pretty good. I'll post the picture on my art page (look for the link to the right) when it's done.

I've been thinking I should start putting up all my pictures. Especially my life drawings. Potential clients seem to like seeing that kind of stuff.

Looks like Toi is awake ... or at least something is. What happened to Toi? You'll have to come back Wednesday to find out.

Tuesday is Halloween so I'll take the time to wish you all a happy Halloween now, since I likely won't post again until the event is over. I put up a halloween animated e-card my friend created. You can watch it by clicking here.

Things are starting to get better organized around here after the loss of one of our instructors. As I posted before, he has an injured foot that is taking a long time to heal because of where the cut is. We are going to get some evaluation and figure out what we have to do to finish the term. I really would like to get my animation project done by December, but at the rate I'm going I don't think that is likely. We'll see.

UPDATE: I've updated to the Blogger Beta and the image loaded right away. Hopefully the upgrade will prevent this problem in the future.

Bunny seems to have recovered ... or has she? She certianly seems to be acting strangely. Toi not likely to recover with Bunny shaking her like that. Come back Monday to see what happens next.

I'm busy doing tutoring with a classmate of mine and it's taking up a lot of time that I should be using to work on my own stuff. I'm way behind on my animation and I don't see how I'm going to catch up. I suppose I should be working on it now instead of posting on my blog, so I'll get back to it.

See you Monday.

Looks like Bunny has found a way to tap into her old Slimorp form. Long time readers (and anyone reading the archive) will know that the Slimorp was transformed into Bunny on page 175. At the time she seemed to be locked into the new form. Now it appears that it it just taking time to adjust to her new body. It will likely be a long time before she will be as flexible as she once was, but it's nice to know those powers aren't gone for good.

Anyone puzzled by Balap's change of heart has to understand that he spend the night as Bunny's prisoner before the current battle began (between pages 189 and 190). What happened during this time is another story. One I may write as a side story or maybe I'll just reference it throughout their journey together.

I'm keeping ahead of my assignments so far. Shouldn't be any problem getting Friday's page up on time. What's going to happen Friday. Nothing that you're expecting, you can be sure of that.

Here it is. You finally get to see what happened to Toi and Bunny when the Scalians discarded them. Looks like they are in pretty bad shape. Can they still be saved or is this the end for these two? Come back Wednesday and find out.

I've been reading some articles about storyboarding, camera angles, dramatic poses, and other related information. It's hard to believe what goes into laying out a story for a movie or animated show. There is so much you need to think about when placing the characters and the cameras. I'll have to try practicing some of these techniques in my own stories. This page includes some dramatic close-ups, but I probably would have done that anyway. I'll try something different Wednesday and see how it works. See you then.

My Instructor was out sick today, So I had extra time to work on my web page despite having a lot of work due tomorrow. I'm still not done all the work but I have a better handle of what I need to do at least. Hopefully my instructor tomorrow will give us some time to work on it in class. I don't think anyone has it finished so I'm not too worried. Still, the faster I get it done, the less work I'll have to worry about.

I went with the Obitckert (Drake) scene instead of the Toi/Bunny one. I try to spend the weekend trying to work out how I want to present what happened to them. Expect some blood, but I don't plan to be too graphic.

There may be some blood in the current battle as well (actually there already has been a little). I don't want the comic to get too serious though, so expect some craziness as well. I'm planning one scene that will surprise a lot of you (I hope). Keep on reading.

Comments For Pages 226 and 227

Sorry for not posting the comments for page 226 until today. I got pretty busy and then forgot all about it.

Our mystery man on page 226 seems to be taking matters into his own hands. As you can see on the top of page 227, he seems to know how to use a whip. Ouch!

Ann keeps trying to get Racheal to fight, but Racheal seems distracted. What did the Scalians do to Toi and Bunny before running off to attack Angel and Slara? The scene was removed due to graphic violence. Not so much because I don't like graphic violence as that I'm not sure I could do the scene justice.

Should I reveal our surprise guest from the last panel on Friday, or should I cut to what is happening with Toi and Bunny? Find out Friday (feel free to vote between now and then).

Sorry for the late post, but since it's Friday the 13th, these things are to be expected. I'm doing this in class because we have a work class right now. I should be doing the work since I'm starting to fall behind. Since almost everyone is falling behind, I don't feel too bad about it, but still....

Today's page has the Scalians making a come back. Looks like the battle is not over yet. Expect things to get pretty violent next week.

I don't really have anything else to say. I guess I better get back to work.

Sorry for not posting earlier but it was late by the time I uploaded Page 224 and I didn't get a chance to post my Blog. I'm only now getting around to updating.

Today's comic is brought to you by BLAM! The makers of comic sound effects. Actually, I just thought I'd try something a little different to add a little fun to the battle. Don't think the Scalians are out of action yet. It will take more then a few punches to keep these guys down.

I tried to pose Angel and Slara so it looked like they were punching at the same time, but the angles and overlapping images make this kind of difficult. Since Ann is all alone, it was much easier to put her into a nice pose. It's not perfect but I kind of like it. I'm sure in a few months I'll wonder how I could think this was actually good, but for now I think it probably one of the best free-hand (that is, drawn without using any references) illustrations I have ever done.

Comment For Page 223

Happy Thanksgiving, Canada!

Today's comic is a contrast of color and black and white. I also experimented with the idea of space. Again, only you can decide how well this works together, but I'm trying.

I hope most of my readers will forgive me for experimenting with the design of my web comic. This project is as much to help me to develop my art style as it is to produce an interesting story. I am currently reading several books on art design including:

"Understanding Comics:The Invisible Art" by Scott McCloud - an interesting look at what comics are and how they work as a visual story telling medium. Anyone interested in Sequential Art (including animation - though the focus is on comics) should read this book.

"Comics and Sequential Art" by Will Eisner - I've only read the first few chapters, but it is already clear that Mr. Eisner is a master of sequential art (again, referring to comics). He really thinks about the placement and shape of every element - including the frames around panels. He was one of the first to remove the frames for added dramatic effect. A must read for anyone using this art form (Note that Mr. McCloud refers to this book several times in his own book).

"Creating Characters with Personality" by Tom Bancroft - a brand new book (published 2006) and one of the only books to go into character creation in full detail. Mr. Bancroft works as a character creator for Disney (he created "Beast" from "Beauty and the Beast" along with many other well know characters). This is a real nuts and bolts book about creating characters, which includes a project the reader can work on themselves to get use to character design. The most important thing I came away with when reading this book is that I need to pose my characters more to create more dynamic and likeable characters. I'll try to do this in Wednesday's page. It includes a battle scene, so posing will really help bring the page to life - I hope.

Comments For Page 222 + John K.

Sorry for the long delay getting this page up, but I was busy last night - watching a presentation by John K. Himself. Wow! What a great honor to meet one of the greatest animation directors of our times.

It was a modest presentation. John talked a little about his life in the industry and showed a few classic cartoons. There were a few problems with the set up. Early on they had to change laptops and John was forced to ad lib and answer questions before the presentation really got started.

Later on, a cartoon ("Tortoise Wins by a Hare") couldn't be viewed because there was a scratch on the disk. John showed some newer stuff he has been working on, including the weird Al video and an animatic of the Tenacious D video. He also showed an old Ren and Stimpy cartoon that never made it past the animatic stage.

Overall, it was a fun evening. I wish I could have talked to him in person but I had to catch my ride back.

I tried for a dramatic effect on this page, but the scalians seem too happy to make it really work. Though, maybe that makes it even more frightening. I can't really tell. It's hard to divorce yourself from your own work.

It looks like a race to find Toi and Angel. The Scalians have a head start and Angel is out at the moment. The Scrofian is out as well, but if he wakes up he might give the girls a fighting chance, or not. Those Scalians are pretty tough.

John Kricfalusi is coming to Halifax this Thursday to show some cartoony cartoons. I have got to go see his presentation. Truro (where I am) is a bit far from Halifax (about an hours drive), so I don't know if I can get a ride there and back but I'm going the beg the people I know with cars to take me. Since we're all animators, I'm sure they'll want to go as well. I can't wait.

Whoops, seems like Racheal should have kept here mouth shut. Now they have to deal with a Mondroit - whatever that is. The Scalians seem happy about it so you know it can't be a good thing.

Not much to report today. I've been doing a lot of research on the web. Seeing what kind of animation was out there. I though Atom Films was a good place to look for quality animated films, but there is a great deal of good stuff you can only find by going to animators own websites. I've also found a few more articles talking about the state of animation today. One scary statement one commenter made was that animations schools are producing a generation of factory workers instead of independent artists. People want to go where the money is, and that is working for the various animation studios. Real artists will go the independent route and create their own films. Fortunately Canada (where I live) will pay artists to produce independent films. The catch is, you need to create an independent film first and have it shown to the public (Film festivals are the best way to do this) before they will fund you. My goal is to produce something while I'm still in college that is worthy of showing at a film festival. I'll keep you posted at to how I'm doing.

Comments For Page 219

Sorry this post is late. Busy as usual. It's been a long day.

I wanted to create a real sense of danger in the first couple of panels. The second one especially. Time is running out for both Bunny and Toi.

Our new animation instructor from Collideascope gave a long (4 hour) talk about the state of the animation industry today. Money drives everything no one with money knows anything about animation. They just want to make more money and they will do anything they can to screw you to get it. Not the most inspirational of talks, but I hear John Kricfalusi saying some of the same things. There is lots of money around to create great animation for TV, but the wrong people control the purse strings and the money never reaches the people who do all the work.

Speaking of John Kricfalusi, make sure you check out the latest posts about inspiration and style in animation (http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/). Excellent stuff. Back in the 30s and 40s animations were able to get inspiration from many sources, each animator having their own likes and influences. Today people just copy the greats without really understanding the ideas behind the style. People really need to break free of the narrow focus that is on TV today and really explore animation as an art form.

I think I'm a lot like John, always looking for ways to improve and annoyed when I see the same look over and over again. Unlike him, I enjoy many of the animated shows today. Not for the animation so much as for how weird they are compared to my own life. It's interesting to see what people like and don't like. There is some pretty strange stuff out there.

Go back 60 or 70 years, and you can find some equally weird stuff, but it's a lot better animated. You can see the art work that went into every scene. It wasn't always good art, but the animators really had fun with in. Animation today can easily become just another job you have to do. A lot of the soul has been lost. I really want to do what I can to bring that soul back to animation. That's why I constantly work on improving my art work. I hope everyone reading this will try to do the same, whatever field you choose to work in.

Sorry this post is a little long but these are important things to think about.

Sorry about that. I was a little late putting up the page, so I didn't have time to post my blog.

Racheal has come up with a cleaver way to end the battle and save her friends, but will it actually work or will the Scalians take their revenge out on her friends? With the battle over, there is no way to get the snake token unless they break the rules and continue battling. Looks like Racheal wasn't so cleave after all.

I'm getting better at getting these pages up, so I should be able to get all the Friday's pages up dispite the work load. I am started to feel very tired these days, so who knows if my energy will hold out. I'm more regular then many web comics, so I guess I don't have any reason to worry, right?

Sunday, September 24, 2006

Comments For Page 217

Yeah, Racheal's back. However, all it not well. Will she be able to figure a way out or will she just start fighting? I'm sure Ann will agree to the battle option, but those Scalians are pretty strong. Maybe there is a better way.

I've had the weekend to relax, So I'm feeling pretty good right now. However, I didn't get a lot of work done. I'll pay for that as the week goes on. Hopefully, I won't get too far behind and I'll be able to get the pages coming out on time.

I picked up Rocket Slime on Saturday. It's really a surprisingly addictive game. There is so much going on, you just want to keep playing to find out as much as you can. Add in an insane amount of things to collect, and you can play this game for hours non-stop.

Sorry the first panel is kind of simple. I don't have much time to make the Friday page, as you know. It's still an interesting picture.

Next week, we 'll return to Racheal and the gang back at the arena to see what's happening there. Now that the odds are four to three in the Vixens favour, they don't really have much of a chance. Especially with Racheal out of the action. How will they survive this one?

This page is up on time, but who knows what will happen Friday. I have a lot of work to do before then, so I can only hope that everything will be done on time and I'll be able to work on my web page. I'm trying to keep ahead of everything, but I can only do so much. Animation is as important to me as this story, so I'm trying to do both but something will have to give sometime. Your support means a l0t. Keep on reading.

I wanted to put all the characters in the second panel as well, but I was limited in time and enengy, so I did an easier layout. I'll show the aftermath of the crash on the next page.

Slara has got to be confused since the last thing she remembers is standing in the battle arena talking to everyone. At least she had a soft landing. Angel was not so lucky (as you'll see Friday). Stay tooned.

I spent way to much time on this instead of doing other things. I guess when you commit to 3 comics a week, you need to set aside the time to do three comics a week. At time goes by, I'm going to get busier and busier, until I have very little free time at all. Please support me during these trying times.

Well, the characters are finally out of the arena. There are still some events in the area left (for example, Racheal is still unconcious). Hopefully, over the next few weeks, the party can leave the arena behind and the real adventure can begin. Keep checking in to see what happens next.

I got this page done on time, as promised. I still have homework for tomorrow but I decided to work on this page instead. I hope you appreciate the effort.

Looks like Angel has decided top take matters into her own hands, literally. Where will she steer the situation? Even I don't know - though I do have a few ideas. We can all be surprised on Monday. See you then.

Sorry for getting this up a little late. The internet was down but I did get the page done. Friday's class was canceled, so I should be able to do Friday's page on time.
Looks like Slara is hurt and Angel may be next. Racheal is already out, so the teams dwindling fast.
The propotions in the last frame look a little off to me. If I had more time, I'd try to fix it. Oh well, back to doing school work.

I have homework to do all ready, so I did this page as quickly as possible. Sorry for copy and pasting a couple of the frames, but it worked out better this way.

By the end of this week I expect I'll be overloaded with work, so I don't know what will happen with Friday's page. I may have to start posting Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday in order to avoid being overloaded with work at the end of the week. I'll make a post Friday to let you know if that's the case.

Poor Slara, just when she thinks the fighting is about to end, it just gets worse. You'd think someone would warn her, or help her, or something. Come back Wednesday and see what happens.

Today's comic was the first that I created over two days instead of working on an entire page in one day. All future pages will be done this way as well. I can already see the workload starting to build, and I've only had one actual class so far. I only have four real courses this term - Maya, Adobe Painter, life drawing, and Animation - plus a required business course, for which I only need a passing grade to graduate. Between Painter, life drawing and Animation class, my artistic skills show greatly improve through out the year. I may even do a few pages using Painter.

Nothing exciting happening in todays comic. Monday's page should be a lot more interesting. I'll see you then.

I managed to do this page all in one day because I was free more of the day, being at this is only the first day of classes.

Looks like the Scrofian isn't the only one who fell under Slara's spell. Problem is, if she stops dancing, everyone will be free to fight again. What to do, oh what to do.

I'll be very busy this term, but I should be able to keep up with the story. Please support me as I try to get my homework and this web comic done at the same time.

Oh No! It looks like Racheal is badly hurt - maybe even dead! But wait, she's the main character, isn't she? Surely she can't die. See what happens on Wednesday.

This page wasn't too hard since I was drawing the same charactrer over and over again. It took a little work to get Racheal just right (and she's still a little off on places), but overall I got this page done in good time.

School starts on Tuesday, so I'll be traveling to Truro today. I'm looking forward to seeing all my friends again and learning more about the animation business. I'm going to try hard to keep up the quality of my web comic but I'm going to have a limited amount of access to a computer so I'll need to manage my time to get everything done on time. Wish me luck.

Rocket Slime

Have you ever hear of Rocket Slime? It is a new game for the DS from the makers of the Dragon Quest series. It's not really a traditional RPG or Adventure game, but it has elements of both. What's really interesting is that there are "boss" battles against giant tanks that really make this title stand of from anything else out there.

At first the cutesy look and simplicity of the game play made me wonder if it would really be worth getting. It seems to be aimed at younger games, and the simple gameplay makes it idea for them. However, the more I read about the game, the more I came to understand that the simple gameplay led to a wealth of content. There is a lot of things to collect, and most of them are usedful. You can even mix items together to collect even better items.

I am really looking forward to this game when it is releaded September 19, 2006. If you own a DS, you should really look into getting this game as well.

It's been a long day and it's getting late, so I just did a big, one-page spread that you can printout and put on your wall, if you wish.

Looks like Slara's dancing has distracted the beast and he may just let Racheal go. On Monday, we'll see what actually happens.

It's hard to believe it's September already. Doesn't seem that long since Summer started and it's over. I'm looking forward to getting back to school, but I'm not looking forward to all the work I have to do. Of course it will be worth it if I can get a good job in the end.

Comments for Page 206

Looks like Angel isn't doing any better then the others - but wait, what is Slara up to? This doesn't seem like the right time to start dancing - or is it. Check in next time to see what happens.

It's still taking a long time to do each frame, and I think the reason is that I've become much more fussy now. Since I'm trying to draw nice pictures, I seem to be redrawing the lines over and over until they look right. Maybe if I have some models to pose for me it would be easier, but where am I going to find a hippo-headed woman? Or a snake woman, for that matter?

Well, I'll be back in school a week from now. My text books came in today, so now it's just a matter of waiting. I should really do some wallpaper art or something before school starts. I'll have to think about what I want to do.

This page took quite a while to do, and no wonder there is a lot going on in it. Both Bunny and Ann are trying to rescue Racheal with disastrous results. Ouch!

I really like the picture of Ann in the lower left corner. Sometimes all the lines come together to make a well proportioned image. It's always nice when that happens.

If you head over to my comic's website (dungeonwarden.com), you 'll see that I added a ton of links to the link page. I'll be adding some of those links here as well, but if you're interested in art, comics, and/or animation, you should take a look right now.

Angel tries to rescue Racheal on Wednesday. Will she make it in time or is Racheal going to be monster chow? Check back and see.

I finally did Toi up in full color. Looks like she's not fairing any better then Racheal. Wonder what's happening with the rest of the gang? Next week you'll get to find out.

The week after next I'll be back in school, learning the joys of animation. I ordered my textbooks online since it's a lot cheaper then buying them from the bookstore, although I do have to wait for them to come in the mail. I hope they arrive before I leave or I'll be in a bit of trouble.

I put some new artwork on my website, so jump on over there and take a look. You can really see a wide variance in the styles and media used. There is a sample of the art in my Picture book "Dog Gone" as well. Check it out.

Oh no! Looks like Racheal's in trouble. Maybe this isn't the same creature she met a while back (see page 158).

This page has less going on then the last one, yet it took me longer to draw. Why is that? Maybe because I haven't drawn a Battle Scrofian in a long time, and never a well detailed one. It could also be because I had a few distractions this time.

Going back to school is going to be hard. Not because the classes will be harder, in fact they should be easier, but because a lot of my time will be used to perfect my webcomic. Last year I just drew as fast as I could and kept the details simple. This year I want to really learn to do more detail and work on backgrounds. I have a couple of courses that will teach me to draw better, so I'll use what I learn there to make better images here.

If you keep reading, I'll keep drawing. Keep in touch.

Here is another full color page. So far so good. I'm going back to school in two weeks, so I don't know if I'll be able to keep up with the quality of art I'm currently using, but I'll try to at least keep the pages coming in on schedule.

Looks who's back. Did you miss him? He looks a little angry. Maybe Racheal shouldn't yell at him like that. Find out what happens on Wednesday.

There's a lot going on in those panels but it didn't take me a whole lot of time to do them. Maybe three hours at the most. I could never have done that even a couple of months ago. I'm not saying it's great art or anything, just that my skill level is improving, so that I can get more done in less time.

I'll see you all on Wednesday.

My website is back up. Click on the image to get the larger version.

As you can see I decided to keep the color since it makes the page look nicer. I saved the colors so that it is not too hard to fill in the correct colors for each character. Even in the small thumbnail you can see the colors really pop off the page.

Panel 1: Angel kicks the dark-brown snake girl in the stomach and says "Got You!"

Panel 2: Ann punches the snake man in the head and says "Down you go."

Panel 3: Toi asks the light-brown snake girl "can I have my cloak back now." The snake girl looks confused while Toi looks angry.

Panel 4: Racheal looks worried as she says "I don't want to alarm anyone but that huge creature is COMING DOWN!"

Monday the creature will be revealed.

Sorry for not revealing Toi's custom as I promised since there wasn't much room to draw her and the snake girl. I'll try to work her into Monday's page so that you can see all of her.

Comments for Page 200

Here it is. The great page 200 extravaganza. This drawing took a very long time to do, so don't expect anything this detailed any time in the near future. Page 300 will probably be even greater then this page just because my skill level will be that much greater, but that is a long time in the future.

What is that shadowly creature hanging from the cealing and what is it doing there? These questions and more will be answered next week. Friday I will deal with the action already in progress.

Looks like Toi is unmasked once again. You can partcially see her behind Racheal, but on Friday you'll get to see her in full battle gear. Ann and Angel have a battle on their hands as well. Doesn't look like anyone is going to surrender anything soon. Should be interesting.

Here we are at page 199. Wednesday is the big 200. Yeah! I'll be updating the site and adding some sketches and artwork too. It's a big day for me and I want to bring as many people to my site as possible.

Speaking of which, you may notice a few new buttons on the right hand side. Click on the first two to vote for my comic. The more people who vote, the higher on the lists I'll go and the more chance others will vote for me. You can vote for me once every day. I also get higher on the lists if you go to my comic from the site, so if you really want to support me you can do that as well.

Once I get some work on my site done, I'll work on some promotional material to help spread the word.

This page is far more complex then I had originally entended. I wanted to show the characters in really trouble before I revealed page 200. I'm really going to work to make it the best art I have ever done. See you Wednesday.

Looks like Toi and Racheal are in trouble. As if She didn't have enough trouble. Maybe the Scalion just wants to be friends? I don't think so.

I suppose I should have put more detail into Toi's cape in the third panel but, hey, I'm lazy.

Next Wednesday is comic number 200. I'm planing a full color spectacular on that day, so I may have to do a quick comic for Monday so I have more time to work on that page and maybe get the website up to date at the same time.

I really need to promote my comic more. I hear there are several web comic based sites out there that can increase readership. Maybe I should check out a few. Keep on reading.

As predicted, the Biork attacked the scalion and now the vixens have the upper hand. However, it doesn't look like Racheal is up to the task of caging the beast. What will she do next?

I did this page in about 2 hours so either I'm getting better, or I'm not being as fussy about the art. It still looks prety good (I hope) so I must be getting better.

I think I'll start doing color pages from page 200 on. I know the last color page took a long time to make but I think I worked out a way to speed up the process. If not, I'll still try to make one color page a week - probably on Monday since I'll have the weekend to work on it.

No one has commented on weither they like the color page or not. Do you want color or are you happy with the comic the way it is. Let me know.

Looks like the Scalions are one up on the Vixens, but don't count your biorks before their caged. The vicious little creature has yet to reveal it's full potential.

The big tail of the scalions sure come in handy. Looks like they'll be hard to beat whatever happens. The vixens need to get their act together if they want to win this battle and capture/kill the snake girl.

There is still 3 more pages before the special 200th page. I have something special planned that will be a big surprise. I'll give you a hint: It involved a character that hasn't appeared in these pages for a while. Who could it be?

Well, the battle is about to begin. It won't be too long until the big spectacular 200th page of my web comic. It's hard to believe that I've been working on it this long.

Long time readers might recognize one of the announcers as being the same woman who announced Racheal's last battle. Her co-worker is sporting a lovely set of rams horns. Could she be one of the twelve? Wait and see.

Looks like everyone's a bit nervous about this battle - everyone on the vixen's side that is. The male Scalion seems ready for a snack. Wonder if Racheal is on the menu? She doesn't seen to be having very good luck in these battle situations. We'll just have to wait and see what's going to happen this time.

If you haven't checked out my web page (dungeonwarden.com), please take a look. There has been a major update of the main page along with a few other pages. There are some nice pictures of the characters on the buttons now.

As promised, here is the dark-brown haired snake woman in all her glory. I really should color the whole page but it takes so long just to draw the whole thing.

Notice anything different? That's right, I started using word balloons. I upgraded my version of Manga Studio to EX from Debut, and it has a lot of extra features not in the cheaper version. Word balloons are just a small part of the new package. I can also create my own textures now (like the bricks on page 193). I'll keep messing around with the new features and see what else I can do to improve my artwork.

Was it a smart idea for Angel to anger the snake woman? Just wait as see.

Here it is. My first full color page for Alternate Reality Worlds. Gaze at the wondrous beauty that meets your eyes... or not. Actually I've produced better art work then this, but not in this short a time. Not that 8 hours is a short amount of time, just that I've never worked on a project that was due in under three days.

Nothing special here. I was focusing on getting all the characters into the picture so you could see them all in color. I had planned to show the opposite battle line as well, but between the long process time and amount of detail required, I decided to stick with the main characters. I'll show the other side on the battle on Wednesday.

Angel refers to the dark-brown haired Scalion in the top panel, so I suppose I'll have to color the Scalion's hair on the next page so you can see who she's referring to.

In case there is anyone new to my web comic, the characters in the bottom panel are, from left to right: Racheal, Angel, Bunny, Ann, Slara, and Toi - together forming the Volupuous Vixens team.

A couple of animated shorts I made

Slime Warrior
A modern day warrior tries to save the city from a slime invasion.

Here is an animation I created for a school project. It is experimental in nature and mixes several types of computer programs together to create the effects you see. I used Photoshop to edit the backgrounds, Coral Painter to create the characters, and Adobe Premiere to create the animation. Enjoy!

Sandor's Place
A woman sees a shadowy figure enter an old building and follows. What horrors will she find below?

This animation was done all in Flash 7 and then converted to MPEG format so I could put it on a DVD. There is a short section that was done with paper and pencil to demostrate my ability to do classical animation. This is a fun little story but it was mostly done for demonstration purposes.

Keep your eyes open at the end and you should see a few familiar characters as the scene fades out.

Sorry for the week long delay. It took a lot longer to get my computer back from the repair shop then originally estimated. It's back now and better then ever, so where shouldn't be any more delays.

Click on the image for a bigger picture.

I've gone back to the simpler backgrounds on this page because it's taking me a while to get back into the swing of things and catch up on all my messages and emails. Monday will be much better and in full color as well! I'm not used to working with color, so we'll see how it goes. If all goes well, I may start doing all my pages in color. Page 200 will be in color for sure. Let me know what you think.

I changed the style a little once again. Mostly because I haven't been drawing Racheal for I while and am a little rusty. I'll finalize her look one of these days.

Sorry, Computer trouble

Sorry I can't put up my new comic page today since my computer is in the shop. I hope to get it back soon, but until I do my access to the internet is very limited. I'll put up the next page as soon as possible and will try to get Mondays page up on time as well. Sorry for this unfortunate delay.

Update: The computer is still now repaired. There seens to be some internal glich that's interfering with the video card and causing the computer to flicked and crash. Hopefully the problem will be fixed by Monday, but it will still be late Monday or even Tuesday before I can update the webpage. Sorry.

I started drawing this page early and it still took most of the evening to get it done. It seems to be taking an average of four hours to do each page. Eight times as long as it took to draw the first pages of the story.

Do you like Toi's new look? Guess she's trying to dispell the cute look she aquired from the mouse form. If you think she looks scary now, just wait until she removes her cape. Yowsers!

You can see more of Racheal's outfit in this comic as well. She seems to be more fashionable then the other members of her team. I guess that comes with being the main character.

redoing website

I am planning to redesign the webcomic web site to better reflect my new art style. I hope to sell my talent someday and need to put on a good impression. I've been studing a few sites and I think other then some cleaning up of graphics and a little rearranging, my site should be fine. The important this is that I look professional. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to comment.
Here is a picture I did using a drawing by Vaughn Bode. Check out his website to see the original. Warning: Many of his paintings show nudity and should not be viewed by young people.

I plan to put this image on my web site as part of my redesing project.

This is my first post about my webcomic, Alternate Reality Worlds. You can click on the name on the right or go here and check out the comic for yourself.

Click on the image for a bigger picture.

Anyone who's been following my comic will notice that I added a lot more detail to the backgrounds. This is to match all the detail I've added to the characters.

It took close to five hours to draw and color everything. Since the begining I've been trying to do each page in under an hour, but I think will be better practice and more exposure for me to make the best drawing I can. That's fine and dandy in the summer when I have a lot of time, but when I go back to school in the fall I'll probably have to cut down on the detail a bit. Hopefully by then I'll have the style learned to the point I can do work like this in under an hour. We'll see.

This is the first appearence of the Scalions. They look pretty nasty, don't they. Rachael certainly thinks so. Notice that this is also the first time Racheal wears her new battle outfit. She never had time to put it on for practice but she's wearing it now. Observent readers will notice that Ann wasn't wearing her battle outfit either as she was also late getting to practice.

You can expect a few more changes as I continue to play around with my style, but I think the characters are pretty much set for now. I don't want to change their appearence too much at this point.
